It provides a high level of training and coaching and draws on a strong group of volunteers. Special Olympics seeks to promote social inclusion by providing opportunities for integraion through sport. Special Olympics Canada is one of 170 programs worldwide.
Making Friends through Special Olympics
Adam gives a lot of his time to training for the Special Olympics. He meets friends at the University of Manitoba where they train together. He is very good at both running and snowshoeing and has competed at the international level in Beijing and in Idaho. The Special Olympics magazine featured Adam on one of its covers. In this audio clip, Adam is showing photos of Beijing to a visitor and describing the stadium where he competed.
